The Questioner: What is the ruling on someone who washes his face excessively more than three times, if he comes to know that he had not fully washed his entire face in the preceding three washes?
Shaykh Muqbil: What is intended by washing three times is: that a complete washing of the face is done the first time, then a complete washing of the face is done the second time, then a complete washing of the face is done the third time. Thus, if one is not certain that the complete coverage of the face occurred in any one of these three, then it is still counted as three washes.
