The Questioner: Is it permissible to make wuḍūʾ from inside a bathroom?
Shaykh Muqbil: If it is far from the place of relieving oneself (i.e., the toilet), then yes. If it is not, the Prophet ﷺ forbade a man from urinating in his bathing place and said:
لا يبولَنَّ أحدُكم في مُستحَمِّه، فإنَّ عامَّةَ الوَسْواسِ منه
“[Let not any one of you urinate in the place where he bathes], for indeed, most of the waswās (whispering) come from that.”
And the Prophet ﷺ spoke the truth, if a person makes wuḍūʾ near an-najasah (impurity), and one may say, “Perhaps the water will splash and return onto his garments or onto his body!”
Thus, it it is most appropriate and best that it be far from the place of relieving oneself. And there is no harm, in shāʾ Allāh.
